STEM Expo!!!

We have a number of STEM events that will interest your students.  The STEM Expo is the first West Sound STEM Network event.  This network was created by the STEM Coordinators in Central, North, Bremerton and Bainbridge and takes the place of any further STEM activity nights here on BI.  BI will have four tables: Rory Wilson’s Kites, BI Robotic demos, and two of the most favored student activities: MicroFossil Hunt (ES) and Eggdrop! (MS).
Last count was over 70 tables!  Please encourage your parents and students to attend.
Bainbridge Public Library Fundraiser at Eagle Harbor Books:

Help support Bainbridge Public Library at Eagle Harbor Books on May 29th, from 4:45-7:00 pm., when we host “Science Night at EHB”.  20% of all sales from 5:00-7:00 will go to BPL.

We have three STEM speakers

4:45-5:15, will be Gregory J. Moncada, Ed.D, the STEM coordinator for the Bainbridge Island School District.  He is excited to share his favorite books for Elementary, Middle and High School students.

5:30-6:00, Sharing research passions and must-read science books will be Julie Novak PhD.  Dr. Novak is head of research at Blaze Bioscience, dedicated to developing products that improve the lives of cancer patients.

6:15-6:45 will be Chad Weldy PhD, and Anna Engstrom, PhD candidate.  Dr. Weldy is a BHS graduate who often gives presentations to BHS science classes.  Both have degrees in Biochemistry and Toxicology.

West Sound STEM Expo 

Calling all STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematic) enthusiasts! The West Sound STEM Network and Bremerton School District Career & Technical Education Department are partnering to host the first annual West Sound STEM Showcase.  This event will feature exciting, hands-on STEM activities for students grades preK-12th as well as their families.

This fun-filled, free event will take place at

May 4, 2013 :10am – 5pm

Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
