Approval of Jan meeting minutes

-Motion by Alicia Bye to approve the meeting minutes, second by Ann Browning, all approved, no opposed.  Minutes approved.

 

Bainbridge Youth Services -Suzanne Schneider and Carole Kant

-Peer tutoring available for all ages (Monday 1:30-3:30, T, W, Th 3:00-4:30)

-Meet at BHS room 103

-To set up tutor, email tutoring@bainbridgeyouthservices.org

-Counseling services available to all students age 13 or older as well as their parents.

5 counselors and 2 interns available, BYS visits every 7/8-grade science class and 9th grade health class so all students are aware of their services available.  Open during the summer, closed during school holidays.  Located on the BHS campus.

Library Resources for Wilkes Families-Lynn Ukich

Light box (new online and print book program) funded by PTO

Review of all online resources that parents can access at home to include:

Brain Pop, Culture Grams, library catalog online, PebbleGo, World Book online.

Passwords are available from the library.

Library is open every day after school except Friday.

Principal’s Report- Amii Pratt

Decrease in enrollment over the past 10 years by 500 students in the BISD

Advertising ideas welcome for the district and each individual school.

Majority of the school budget is based on number of students enrolled.

 

Treasurer’s Report-Ann Browning

Currently on budget and predicted to stay that way for the rest of the year.

Update from Sakai PTO-Alicia Bye 

-4 openings at the Sakai PTO for next year.  Please consider, monthly meetings, one main fundraiser, and fast turn over of PTO due to school only being 2 years.

 

Auction update- Alicia Bye and Lindsay Browning

-PTO will fund the boys and girls club option for the auction to be sure it is available for parents.  There will still be a cost to send your child, however, PTO will make sure the minimum cost is met to guarantee that it will be open and available.

-All donations due Friday, Feb 17. As of this meeting, we are halfway to the goal of donations coming in.

Ideas to donate include: family sponsorships, cash donations, services or classes (teaching a canning class or offering babysitting), wine, gift cards, etc.

-Discussion about equality and raising money for the school.  Making some items available to all, especially student experiences, possibility of sponsoring a child for teacher experiences.

 

Questions and New Business-

Wanting to start new tradition of holiday bazaar for the students similar to what Blakely elementary school does near winter break-Soomie to organize this idea
