What is the Wilkes PTO Auction?
The Auction is a fun, adults-only dinner auction attended by Wilkes parents, teachers, staff and friends. Evening highlights include a Silent Auction, Sit down plated dinner, Live Auction, Wine Toss and Dessert Dash. And of course lots of fun with your fellow Wilkes community!
The Wilkes PTO Auction is our primary fundraiser for the Wilkes PTO, which provides everything from basic school supplies to the very special things that Wilkes is able to offer our children. Examples of items that the Wilkes PTO funds are enrichment programs, special speakers for school assemblies, teacher training, reading and math curriculum, technology equipment, playground equipment, facility enhancements, art supplies, smart boards, field trips, and so much more. If you think of Wilkes as a place to learn and grow, the PTO provides the things that enable the children to THRIVE!

It takes a village (or small army) of people to put on the Auction. You can help organize from the beginning or help just before on the day of the Auction. We need all types of help in the weeks leading up to Auction. Jobs include picking up auction donations, creating display materials, stuffing envelopes, organizing auction bins, event set-up on the day of, working at the event for check-in and check-out. If you are interested in being a part of the Auction team, please contact Janel Drugge at firstname.lastname@example.org

Each year, many of our teachers and staff attend the auction, helping with set-up and clean-up, closing silent auction tables, and being bid-runners, as well as having donated teacher experiences and teacher books. That’s in addition to their day jobs! The PTO has always paid for their tickets. Your donation of a teacher ticket can help cover that expense. You can make this donation directly at http://events.readysetauction.com/wilkes/16thptoauctiondinner.
Can’t attend the auction but still want to make a contribution? Your cash donation in any amount is always welcome and gratefully accepted. Please coordinate with Alicia Bye: Aliciabye@me.com
Class Art Project Auction- Dutch Auction
The class art projects will be auctioned off using a Dutch Auction format. How does it work? Here’s an example: Each of the three second grade classes has created a unique mosaic mirror. Bidding for the artwork will start with all three available. The highest bidder gets first choice of the mirrors. If someone else wants to purchase a mirror at the same price, they may choose from the remaining two at that time. If not, the bidding starts over and continues to work the same way until all are sold. Items being sold via Dutch Auction will be identified as such in the catalog. You can see some of the pieces on display in the library display case!
Teacher experiences can range from story time to flying a remote-controlled plane to lunch and a movie. What a treat and special memory with our beloved Wilkes teachers! These are typically in sign-up format in the silent auction, but a few are in the live auction. Don’t miss out on these special experiences!
Each teacher donates a book of their choosing. Your child can keep this special book for a lifetime!
Near the end of the Live Auction, we hold a Paddle Call, where bidders raise their paddles to donate money to go directly to the Wilkes PTO budget. Raise your paddle once or more than once to support Wilkes and help the kids THRIVE!
Your cash donation is tax deductible and you will receive a tax receipt in the mail after the auction.
Thanks for making it all the way to the end! We hope this guide has provided the information you need.
Thank you for your support of the Wilkes PTO Auction!
